One of the most exciting abilities in the History tab is the Page Versions feature. Just a heads up that we will be hanging out in the History tab in the desktop PC application of OneNote for all of the features described below. This does not mean these history features are not available in other apps, but the Desktop Application is by far the most versatile way to access OneNote notebooks, and is still the way I would recommend accessing your notebooks primarily. There are many types of OneNote Applications in the mix: phone applications, tablet applications, Windows Store applications, Mac applications, and so on… The application I am referring to for this Byte is the OneNote Desktop Application for PC. For that matter, you also have a variety of additional features available to you that involve the history features in your notebooks. Did you know you have the same ability with your OneNote Notebooks? And the good news is, it is remarkably simple. If you have the Gem Menu for OneNote from OneNote Gem, you can access the cache more easily by opening the Gem menu and selecting Cache folder. In OneDrive Essentials training, we learn all about restoring old versions of documents stored in the cloud. Go to ~/Library/Containers/Microsoft OneNote/Data and delete cache files that end with. Don't forget to change UserName to your own username! On Windows 10, it's located at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\16.0. You can clear the cache by finding the OneNote folder. While the cache is different from your saved notebooks, you should still start by syncing your notebooks to the cloud to make sure you don't lose anything. You just delete the cache, and OneNote will generate a new set of clean files the next time you boot it up. If one of those temporary files contains an error, however, it can cause problems for the program. It's kind of like filling in a template instead of writing from scratch every time. A cache is a collection of temporary files that a program can use to operate more efficiently. If OneNote is still laggy, it might have some corrupted files in its cache.
